Base Camp Printing Co. is a vintage letterpress shop, design studio, retail store, and community space in Charleston, WV specializing in modern designs using old-fashioned handmade printing techniques.
Base Camp is owned and operated by Emily & Betsy Sokolosky, a team of sisters born and raised in Charleston, WV. Emily founded the company in 2016 and Betsy joined soon after. All of the designing and printing is done by the duo and it's still just the two of them running the day to day operations 10 years later!

All of our work is handprinted on one of our vintage printing presses. For larger pieces, we print on a Vandercook 219-AB made in the 1950s. We also use a Chandler & Price Platen Press that is around 100 years old!

Many of the methods that we use to print in our shop are exactly the same as they would have been hundreds of years ago. This includes hand setting vintage wood and metal type from our collection.
